I could have danced the whole night long
Too ra loo ra loo ral!
I curtsied as you took my hand
My heart was light and gay.
We were off! Across the perfumed floor
We barely stopped for air
What the courtesans thought, of me and my Prince,
I did not know – nor care.
Together we danced the Minuet
The Charleston, and Boogaloo
Oh, yes, I danced the whole night long
Matching steps with you!
I should have left when the clock struck 12
But I did not wish to go
The wine was sweet; and your arms so strong
Our dancing did not slow.
And so we danced the whole night long
Now I curse the folly of it!
For in the morn my stupid feet were swollen
And that damn glass slipper – did not fit!
