I found a frog and took him home
– Lady Magpie
(Tho’ my senses riled and ranted)
I took him home, to be my love
I just knew he was enchanted
He shared my food, he shared my drink
And my narrow, virgin bed
My father yelled, “Please get some sense!”
—- I kissed a frog, instead!
I kissed a frog! But still he remained
Amphibian; cold, and mean
So I dashed him up against the wall
Made a mess! Red pulp, and green
As he died I heard him croak
Words that have echoed, ever since
“You have to kiss A LOT of frogs
Before you meet your handsome prince!”
